Egg Donation
Do you know that by egg donation you are the biologic mother of your son? Indeed this is the most important fact of giving birth through egg donation.
This process allows you to get pregnant and to conceive a child even though you are not able to produce or to use your own eggs. The egg might come from an anonymous donor.
Here is how it works:
- The donor undergoes a medical and psychological screening.
- If she fills in the requests to become an egg donor she goes on an ovarian stimulation cycle in which she takes the medicines for IVF. And by the end of the treatment her eggs will be mature.
- Meanwhile the receptor receives medicines to prepare her endometrium to support a pregnancy.
- After 3 to 6 weeks the eggs from the donor are collected.
- The eggs are combined to the husband, partner or semen donor sperm in the laboratory
- The combined genetic material starts to duplicate and this process goes on until the embryo formation
